Event Recap: Weather Doesn’t Deter Garage Sale

The early morning weather started off beautiful with some overcast, but soon the dark clouds rolled over the plaza bringing with it a chill in the air and some light rain, but that didn’t stop people coming to The Women’s Club of Castle Hills garage sale. The majority of the traffic happened before the change in the weather, but many continued to drop by and peruse the many items for sale.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at her, but a toddler took to a 25-foot rock climbing wall and showed no fear as she made it all the way to the top. Over St. Patrick’s Day weekend and the end of spring break for the area children, the Village Shops & Plaza hosted a rock climbing event with a balloon artist and DJ.   Exposure Indoor Rock Climbing brought out a state-of-the art portable 25-foot climbing wall that many of the children couldn’t wait to climb. A trained facilitator helped each of them into a harness and offered help when needed. But, for the most part the children showed no fear of heights as they scaled the three faces of the 25-foot wall. One side was for beginners, the second was intermediate and the third was for more experienced climbers. However, one of the few people to get up the experienced wall was a 10 year-old that made it look fairly easy. Celebrate It! supplied balloon art and balloons for the children to pop and a DJ played top 40 music that kept the mood light and entertaining. The rock climbing wall is definitely an activity you’ll see again at the Village Shops & Plaza.
